To Frank Hume Dawson
I was in a health fair to show my ware,
Of health information with others to share.
Then I saw this man with ebony color
Talking with others as he paced the floor.
I was curious to know the man whom I saw.
And so I approached him with a warm hello.
I asked with a smile, are you new in town?
You seem not familiar to us people around.
He said yes I'm new but I'll soon come down
From Los Angeles where my business is found.
He gave me a card which I read with a frown,
'Cause in jest he denied the business he owns.
We talked and we shared until much later on
He said with pride he is from Sierra Leone.
Would you be my mother? he asked with a gift,
A heartwarming gesture, it gave me a lift,
And so I obliged to be a mother and friend,
The relationship I hope, would not come to an end.
