Have you ever seen a bamboo grow?
It grows so high
As if to reach the sky.
It waves to and fro
When the wind passes by.
Many are inspired as they see
The bamboo waving so gracefully,
Unencumbered and free.
When I was growing up
My father quoted to me
A line from an ancient philosophy:
He said, my daughter,
"Be like the bamboo,
The taller it grows
The lower it bends."
Be like the bamboo, graceful,
Unencumbered, and free.
